STUDIOS
We live with images and understand the world in images." – H. Belting
The studio specializes in expanding knowledge and skills in the field of activities
in the virtual space, as part of the subjects included in the timetable of the Institute of Photography and Multimedia, both in the first- and second-cycle study programs.
These are:
Activities in Virtual Space (1st degree)
Interactive Activities (2nd level)
Activities in the Virtual Image Studio focus on various forms of image use and recording, for which photography is the starting point.
in a contemporary context. Due to the location of photography on the border between technology and art, any change occurring in any of these areas is significant. Researching the transformations taking place in the relationship between humans and images, as well as the connections existing between physical and network images, is one of the important motivations of the studio. The ambiguity of visual forms located on the border of physical and virtual reality causes difficulties in locating and describing a contemporary photographic image, which is why it is so important to discuss its role. The experimental approach, based on exercises, allows you to expand the boundaries of a known medium where science, art and technology intersect. The issues covered in the workshop support the development of current skills in the field of software and modern technologies, but are also intended to build mature forms of expression regarding current problems.
The virtual images studio is a space in which students
become familiar with the software interface for creating three-dimensional objects. The didactic aim is primarily to prepare for conscious movement in the virtual space, which is of great importance in the process of shaping current creative awareness. The studio introduces the experience of modernity expanded to include a virtual area where interactivity is of key importance. Regarding the fact,
that the center of interest of creators has moved towards broadly understood interactivity, which is the basis for the functioning of contemporary culture, students learn and learn to use all the tools provided by the developing
technology, including artificial intelligence. In the process of creative development,
which largely concerns digital technologies, students learn to consciously use the acquired skills to create technologically advanced artistic projects.
During exercises and workshops, students acquire skills in modeling 3D objects, and in subsequent stages they learn to create three-dimensional visualizations of exhibitions, animations, and construct elements of augmented reality. During the classes, they will become familiar with software for creating three-dimensional objects, thanks to which they will be able to implement complex artistic projects. They also learn about various applications of 3D in art, learning to consciously combine various means of expression. The workshop also discusses issues related to artificial intelligence and its skillful use. Using a variety of tools, students can realize their creative goals and develop professional skills. The connection of extended worlds with physical reality and their mutual interactions are a source of inspiration and artistic exploration, which is why the ability to use their possibilities is so important. The basis of all activities here are photography and multimedia, the scope of which has expanded with the development of technology.
The Virtual Images Studio carries out subjects related to working in virtual space, based on a diversified and dynamically profiled program that complements
and expanding the education area at the Institute of Photography and Multimedia.
