Theoretical syllabus:
selected elements of the history of art
the basics of semiology and the role of the recipient in the creation of a work’s of art meaning,
text, sound, static image, moving image as a potential elements of multimedia work
the relation between the meaning of the work and space in which it functions (exposition space - public space)
Practical syllabus:
multimedia work as a statement which uses various form of media
the realisation of a digital image with the consideration of medium’s structural features
montage of the moving image as a form of narration
spacial realization with the use of interconnected media
It’s a meeting place to interchange thoughts and experiences.
The aim of the classes in the Studio is broadening students’ knowledge on the topic of the semantic potential of multimedia communication. Based on the theoretical information from the history of the incorporation of multimedia in art, familiarity with recent technological capabilities and direct experience in working with interconnected media a student is supposed to present skills allowing him/her to use electronic media in artistic creation with full awareness.
Within classes’ framework students get acquainted with selected subject matters from multimedia history, gain knowledge on how to operate audio and visual registering devices, methods of editing and possibilities of presenting audiovisual undertakings. Along with lectures, regular projects and presentations on the above mentioned topics, students conduct tasks developing their registering skills, processing and presenting multimedia work with regards to its structural interdependence of formal and semantic layers. Searching for relevance and essence of communication is carried out through discussions about the relation between the form of the work and potential references stemming from the interpretative abilities of a contemporary recipient.
Charakter zajęć koncentruje się na badaniu współczesnych form obrazowania idei. Dotyczy zależności interpretacyjnej przekazu artystycznego względem aspektów historycznych i kontekstów relacyjnej teraźniejszości. Oprócz realizacji zadań semestralnych konstruowanych na bieżąco w zależności od charakteru grupy, studenci maja możliwość pogłębiania doświadczeń na drodze indywidualnych poszukiwań w oparciu o bazę technologiczną Pracowni i pomoc merytoryczną jej pracownikow.
