SpiritBox is the space in between, filled with the history of a hundred-year-old villa and the past experiences of people associated with it. It is a space that gains new meanings thanks to artistic experiments. New peculiarities and oddities are discovered in mysterious noises, frayed weaves, and apparent reflections. Disturbing fragments of the history of this place are captured and materialized in the form of new traps for specters and ghosts. And entering the villa allows you to feel their presence.
The exhibition is the result of annual workshops organized by the Academy of Fine Arts. Władysław Strzemiński together with the Central Textile Museum in Łódź. The project was led by prof. Łukasz Ogórek and the main curator of CMWŁ, Marta Kowalewska. In 2024, students had the opportunity to cooperate with the artistic duo Inside Job, i.e. Ula Lucińska and Michał Knychaus. The starting point for artistic considerations was the fate of the summer villa in which the exhibition is presented.
