“(…) mushroom picking takes us elsewhere, to the unruly edges and seams of imperial space, where we cannot ignore the inter-species interdependencies that give us life (…).”
Anna Tsing, “Recalcitrant Edges: Fungi as Companion Species.”
Mushrooms are everywhere. It is thanks to them that life processes are possible, they co-create the soil, digest, feed,
decompose plants, participate in food production, produce medicines and recycle plastics, and yet over 90%
of their species still remain undiscovered. This cognitive gap created a creative space filled with visual hybrids
combining various species of fungi, lichens and eukaryotes. The exhibition is a kind of atlas of mushrooms that “exist”
only as part of the exhibition.
